The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time - Mark Twain

The most predictable thing in life is death. The least understood thing in life is death. The most feared thing in life is death. The most un-discussed thing in life is death. Even though it is our constant, unseen companion.

One wrong step, one wrong place, one unfortunate moment, and you flip to the other side.

Death: Should we fear it? Well, that depends on the understanding of death.

If you want to enjoy the luxuries, remain attached to materials and mankind, like every superficial thing life has to offer, then you certainly have reasons to worry and fear death.

But if you look at death as just shedding the physicality, when the body has run its due course, then death is the most natural phenomenon, and nothing to be scared of.

If you observe the nature, all you will find is manifestations of life, and every manifestation runs its course. And as is the case with all energies, life energy also cannot be destroyed, it just changes form and finds new ways to manifest itself.

We need to embrace death. We need to prepare for it, so when time comes, we are not afraid. Understandably, it is easier said than done. But if one embarks on a spiritual journey, it does help. Indian school of thoughts provide extensive text and guidance on how to transition from ignorance to awareness and realization.

There is another advantage of delving on this topic. Once you understand the reality and embrace the truth, you will develop an appreciation of how precious the manifestation of life is. You will stop wasting time and effort on actions which are unreasonable and do not make sense.

The sum total of all this is: Freedom

Freedom from fear.

Swami Vivekananda said once – “If there is anything in this world which can be called a sin, it is this – FEAR”

Only when you do not fear any more, the possibilities become endless. And the biggest favor one can do, to oneself, is to explore the possibilities life has to offer. For the ones who didn’t explore, they also lived well, except for the irony, they couldn’t know what else existed.

Death, eventually, is integral to life.

The moment life manifests, death comes as a harsh reality. But it remains harsh only till you don’t understand it’s true nature. Then it becomes just a reality of life, amongst others.

So go ahead and seek the Truth.

Embrace the Reality.

Be Fearless.
